Chris is passionate, knowledgeable, and has an unique ability to see the individual student and what they need. Chris is without doubt the best teacher I have ever had, and he has made me see music in a way I did not think was possible.

Christopher Davies was born in South Wales in 1960. He studied with Beate Popperwell in Cardiff before entering the Royal College of Music in 1979 where he studied with John Barstow. He was awarded a prestigious RCM “Exhibition” in his first year and followed this with competition wins and places including the RCM Concerto prize, the Marie-Curtis Haydn/Mozart competition, the John Ireland prize and the RCM 20th Century award. On leaving the RCM, Christopher was awarded a major Welsh Arts Council grant, the Ryan Davies award and a Lady Grace-James scholarship. Christopher has performed extensively in recitals throughout Britain including performances at the Britten Festival, Snape Maltings, the Edinburgh Festival and the Bangor Festival. He has performed concertos with Sir Norman Del-Mar, Sir Charles Groves, and Alun Francis. In 1988 he was appointed to the staff of UWC Atlantic College and gradually reduced his external professional engagements though during his time at UWCAC, he gave more than 1300 recitals and concerto performances, solo and with students. In 2016 Christopher was awarded the prestigious “Outstanding Educator” award from the University of Chicago.
